Specialty − “Clinical Psychology”

Duration of the course − 5 years

Since 1999 Kursk State Medical University has been preparing specialists of the specialty 030302 − “Clinical Psychology”.

Graduates of the faculty work successfully in institutions of Public Health, establishments giving psychological support to citizens of the Central Black Earth Region and in institutes of higher education in Kursk and Russia.

Students are taught by 37 specialists who have basic psychological education and also by leading specialists of the system of practical Public Health. Among working staff there are 6 Doctors of Science, 14 candidates of Science, one member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences, one member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, 2 members of the Petrovskij Academy of Science and Art, one member of the International Academy of Science of Pedagogical Education. On the faculty there is a laboratory of experimental psychology, a center of psychological support for students. Students of the faculty learn thoroughly disciplines of the specialization on the basis of institutions of Public Health and establishments giving psychological support to citizens of Kursk. The curriculum includes the following blocs of disciplines: general-mathematical and natural-scientific, general-humanitarian and social-economical and also the bloc of general-professional disciplines and disciplines of specializations, special trainings and supervision.

A specialist with high psychological education of the specialty “Clinical Psychology” is allowed to give psychotherapeutic support along with a psychotherapist, work as a medical psychologist in institutions of Public Health, work in the sphere of practical psychology and teach psychology in higher educational establishments.
